Een Dacia Duster te klein? Dan is hier de Dacia Bigster.
Dacia is een budgetmerk, en dat zag je er vroeger ook heel erg aan af. Gelukkig kun je vandaag de dag prima voor de dag komen met een Dacia. Sterker nog: de nieuwe Duster ziet er beter uit dan menig concurrent. En nu is hier de Dacia Bigster, wat wederom een stoer ding is.
De naam Bigster kennen we al van de concept car die Dacia in 2021 liet zien. De lijnen van de concept car zag we eigenlijk al terug in de nieuwe Duster, maar nu is hier alsnog een Bigster. Dat is dus een Duster, maar dan groter.
De Dacia Bigster is 4,57 meter lang, wat 23 centimeter langer is dan de Duster. Je zou denken dat een derde zitrij dan tot de mogelijkheden behoort, maar de Bigster is nog steeds een vijfzitter. Als je een zevenpersoons Dacia wil moet je de Jogger hebben. In de Bigster heb je natuurlijk wel lekker veel bagageruimte: 667 liter.
De Bigster is in principe gewoon een verlengde Duster, al zijn er wat uiterlijke verschillen. De voorbumper is anders, de Bigster heeft een zwart dak en het achterste zijruitje is middels een donkergrijze strip verbonden met de achterruit. Daardoor heeft de Bigster toch net even een andere uitstraling.
Het interieur is (niet verrassend) nagenoeg identiek aan dat van de Duster. Wel is de Bigster minder kaal. Zo heeft deze gewoon altijd het 10 inch multimediascherm en het 7 inch digitale instrumentarium, waar de Duster standaard géén schermen heeft. Tevens krijg je standaard een achteruitrijcamera en elektrische ramen voor én achter (in een kale Duster moet je achterin nog slingeren).
De topversie van de Dacia Bigster is de HYBRID 155, met een viercilinder en een systeemvermogen van – inderdaad – 155 pk. Dat zijn er 15 meer dan de hybride Duster. Verder is er een 1.2 driecilinder met 140 pk, die ook op LPG te krijgen is. Last but not least is er ook een 4×4. Die heeft dezelfde driepitter, maar dan met 130 pk.
Het getal waar het echt om draait bij een Dacia is de prijs, maar die is helaas nog niet bekend. Maar ongetwijfeld zal het weer een hele goede deal zijn vergeleken met de concurrentie.

Ik vraag me alleen nog wel af, hoe goed ze nou werkelijk zijn. In het verleden werd Dacia altijd gepresenteerd als ‘moderne ontwerpen met bewezen (Renault) techniek’, maar in de betrouwbaarheidsstatistieken vind je dit bepaald niet terug.
Overigens mag die vraag als hypothetisch worden beschouwd. Ik verwacht dat er niet veel Dacia rijders te vinden zijn onder de Autoblog bezoekers. Of zij die dat willen toegeven. Maar misschien (lees: hopelijk) zit ik er naast.

Ik schud het volgende maar uit mijn mouw, maar:
Eerdere dacia’s kwamen met de antieke 1.6 16v van Renault. Gewoon een goede, uitontwikkelde motor, ging je er normaal mee om dan bracht ie je overal. En super simpel te onderhouden door elke garage ter wereld. Maar ondertussen zijn de Dacia’s ook over op de downsize en hybride aandrijflijnen. Het zal vast geholpen hebben qua verbruik en power, maar absoluut niet qua betrouwbaarheid.

Er is echt wel behoefte aan leuke, kleinere en betaalbare auto’s, maar daar pakken fabrikanten niet genoeg marge op.

Mijn hekel punt bij de duster is en blijft 4×4 heeft geen automaat. Als de bigster 4×4 met automaat heeft is het een topper, met diesel al helemaal.
