We kennen al een heleboel voorbeelden van voertuigen die de gemakken van een boot en een auto combineren, maar voor de vakantie is dit misschien wel de ultieme.

Het heet Boatorhome en het is een soort camper meets speedboot. In eerste instantie vraag je je af waarom die mafkees zijn camper in het water zet, maar als je iets langer kijkt ga je je afvragen hoe ze dat enorme amfibie gevaarte inclusief SUV-neus in hemelsnaam drijvende gaan houden.

De grap is: dat hoeft helemaal niet. Op een bepaald moment koppelt men het leefgedeelte van de camper los en wat blijkt: dat is een kek ogende boot die eruit ziet alsof hij nog aardig hard wil gaan ook. Check de video hieronder, geinig concept toch?

Op de website valt te lezen “On land it’s a comfortable, smooth-riding motorhome, on the water it’s an exciting, action-packed cruiser.” Het geheel wordt gebouwd op basis van een oude Ford Econoline Super Van met voorwielaandrijving. Het idee is ontstaan doordat men het schijnbaar zat was om een trailer met boot te slepen achter een camper, dus besloot men om de camper met het bootje te combineren. Hoe dat eruit ziet zie je in deze video. En nee, dat lijkt geen heel gunstige draaicirkel inderdaad.

    Pretty sweet. Als je er een katamaran van maakt dan heb je waarschijnlijk een hydrodynamischer ontwerp. Misschien kan je er dan een echt amfibievoertuig van maken want uw truck moeten achterlaten is een beetje een gebrek.

    Met een dak van zonnepanelen als die record poging daar. Omdat het elektrisch is kan je de wielen onafhankelijk aandrijven, met een actieve ophanging en dan optrekken (zie vliegtuig). Eventueel opblaasbare – intrekbare rompen. Een voordeel is alvast dat de romp nog lager bij de grond zit dus kan je een hogere boot maken. Met een opblaasbare romp kan je het eens in het water breder maken. De boot zou wel moeten ontworpen worden zodat een lek de boot niet doet zinken.

    De cockpit vd boot is gewoon de cockpit van de camper. Ik zie het wel zitten. Hennep composiet – sisal-jute-hennep bekleding – uitklapbare zonnepannelen – moet wel lukken. Je kan hem aan het net opladen – aan de zon. Op het gemak. Eens vragen aan mister Tesla (eunich ofzo) of we zijn superchargers mogen gebruiken. Misschien aanvaard hij wel iMobility credits voor zijn elektriek. Misschien is dit wel een projectje voor hem. Een platform van batterijen – camper reinvented. Tussen dit en een saaie bus van 1miljoen moet ik niet lang kiezen.

    Weekendje op het water – potjes terug uitrekken (in het water) – romp deflateren en opbergen – 5min – eruit rijden – waarom niet

    Nu we een hotel maken van mijn gigantische geodesic shell paludarium – kunnen we het evengoed goed doen. De bezoekers moeten kunnen meegenieten van Delvoys’ neogothic fish city. Dus ik stel voor een ontwerp als dat van de grote cruise boten.

Like the boats that have a space-daylight in the middle – the hotel should be circular-square-elipse-rectangle-… with a hole in the middle. Only the hole is filled with water – which is part of fish city. From the outside it just looks like a pond-river-… But the water goes a couple of stories deep. On the bottom is fish city with buildings (made from translucent hemp plastics – covered in shiny green algea) some rising up to almost surface level. Inside small fish can hide from preditors and even breed. The bottom is off course the most spectacular part – visible from a lounge and the more expensive rooms. You can even have tubes running through the rooms and find a way to lure fish through them – like heating them – or offer feed (instead of surface feeding). To protect privacy you can have windows like a bowl entering the room. That way it’s hard to see into other rooms – but you still get the underwater experience. You can play with angles and shapes to get the same kind of privacy-view. On the bottom you can have tunnels through fish city. Fish city can also have special lighting to complete the effect.

    I suggest the diner is outside (inside the dome) under a straw roof to block heavy sun and birdshit.

    Since I still want my underground layer and the water is constantly circulated – we can work with the landscape and make the water flow. The underground layer is then in a shallow part of “the river” a bit higher than the hotel and not visible. From the layer you see the hotel as a cliff. You should be able to look down on fish city without being seen by the visitors. The tunnels of the layer itself are off course also surrounded by fish city. The water that flows into the layer’s part of the complex is perhaps a waterfall.

    The dome should be made from transluscent hennep-composit (preferably) pannels. Multilayered to function as double-triple glazing – strong enough to withstand nature obviously. The links between the windows – the actual geodesic structure – can perhaps also be hemp composit. As part of the ecological statement it should push the standard for innovative CO2 negative construction.

    With stratigic solar panels to regulate temp and generate power. The summer sun will be too hot probably – so the top side are solar pannels. The dome can be further heated by water heaters – perhaps on nearby homes. The water serves as a thermal buffer and heating system. Making the the water flow you can also add a jacuzi type water basin – with freshly filtered water – which then flows into the river.

    There should be a dock to take people to Ghent or other cities by boat. Perhaps the vistors can enter the domein by boat to enhance the jungle feeling (as opposed to the road).

    I think a lot of art lovers – tourists – architects – terrarium-aquarium lovers – and just random people would be willing to pay for the experience. And it’s smack in the middle of western Europe.

    I estimate – and it serves to be generous with estimates – €200M.
