Euro98 of zelfs 102 tanken in plaats van Euro95.
Het kost je elke keer een paar euro extra, maar is er ook daadwerkelijk een verschil? Meten is weten, dus we zochten het voor je uit! Ook keken of de toevoeging van een K&N luchtfilter invloed heeft op de prestaties.
Voor deze test gebruikten we een Porsche 996 Carrera, BMW M140i xDrive, een BMW 530i Touring en een Volkswagen Arteon PHEV om de metingen uit te voeren.

Bij hoog presenterende turbo motoren kan het echt 20-30 pk schelen tussen 95-102. Daar zijn ook vermogens metingen van tuners van te vinden. Ik rijd zelf op 98 soms bijgevuld met 5 liter bio-ethanol (991.2 turbo s 700+ pk). Dat verschil merk je echt goed.

Leuk vergelijk. Moet het filmpje nog zien, maar zweer zelf wel bij Euro98. In m’n eigen Excel scheelt dat wel ietsje, maar vooral voor de motor wat prettiger als die wat langer stil staat.
Wellicht superstitions, maar ach kan het leien dus ja.

Tank altijd Euro98, auto rijdt zuiniger en lijkt iets pittiger maar belangrijkste reden is dat onze garage het zeer adviseert, schijnt echt beter te zijn voor de motor. Dan maar Euro98…

98 is wat zuiniger omdat er (in ons land) meestal geen ethanol in zit. Niet door het octaangetal.

991.2 4S met een tune, tank altijd 98 maar soms 102. Moet zeggen dat ik (butt feeling) geen significant verschil kan merken. GPS meting met telefoon is relatief onbetrouwbaar is mijn ervaring (vooral 0-100 pakt hij vaak niet goed).
Misschien een keer een meettool kopen voor de leuk!

Misschien een multimap tuning erop zetten, eentje voor 95 met normale settings, eentje 98,eentje 102. Een bedrijf als JD of BRP kan dat prima voor je verzorgen. Dan ga je ook iets merken ervan.

Weet nooit helemaal zeker in welke mate het feit danwel fictie is, maar bij de E46 M3 meende ik goed verschil te voelen tussen 98 en 102 octaan, bij de AMG met 6,2 V8 maakte het voor m’n gevoel geen bips uit, terwijl ik bij de F82 M4 weer wel verschil meen te voelen. Met het andere vliegtuig zonder vleugels (atmosferisch, hoogtoerig) heb ik nog geen 102 octaan getankt, dus daar is de jury still out.

In mijn snellere auto’s met Turbo merkte ik serieus verschil qua vermogen en verbruik. De Abarth 500 werd echt een stuk zuiniger door 98, en de 850R was voelbaar een stuk sterker op ron102. Nu in de Mazda 6 merk ik qua vermogen en verbruik eigenlijk geen verschil. Ook met de Ducati merk ik weinig verschil. Ooit perongeluk E10 95 getankt en hij reed er niet minder om.

Ik tank met de BMW altijd BP Ultimate 98, veel garagisten koppelen toch meerwaarde aan de reinigende werking van dit soort brandstof. Of ik nou 1 op 14 of 1 op 12 rij, dat maakt me eigenlijk niet uit. Ik gebruik de auto alleen voor ritten langer dan 20km; tot 20 km pak ik eigenlijk altijd de fiets en dáár zit de grootste winst.

In de Golf werd mij aangeraden om voor 98 te gaan, maar grotendeels vanwege het E5-gedeelte. Heb 1 keer uit noodzaak in Zweden E10 moeten tanken (slechts 5 liter gedaan om niet te stranden) en de dag erna ging het olielampje ineens aan omdat ‘ie door zijn olie heen gebrand was. Weet eigenlijk niet of de twee relatie hebben maar daarna is er geen druppel E10 meer in gekomen en heeft ‘ie altijd netjes zijn olie op peil gehouden.
Ik heb ook een keer per ongeluk Euro 95 E5 getankt. Dat heeft verder niet voor gekke bijwerkingen gezorgd, maar ik voelde wel duidelijk minder fut in de auto. Heb mij laten vertellen dat de chiptune het fijner vindt om pittigere benzine te hebben, anders is de kans op misfires groter.
Of ik een hersenloos schaap ben en twee jaar onnodig dure benzine heb getankt mag Joost weten, maar ik denk dat het bij auto’s voor het E10-tijdperk nooit kwaad kan.
P.S. voor de nieuwe bolide kan ik ook kiezen uit een dieselequivalent van Euro 98 (ben even de naam kwijt maar ook met lager ethanol-gehalte), maar ik heb meerdere mensen horen zeggen dat dat echt geen effect heeft. Iemand daar ervaringen mee?

BP Ultimate diesel of Shell V-Power diesel e.d. Daar zit vooral spul in om alles wat schoner te laten lopen. Bij ‘zwakke’ diesels voelde ik het verschil niet direct maar als je langere tijd gewone diesel brandstof rijdt dan ga je merken dat de motor wat rauwer gaat lopen (geluid en trillingen). Met een tank BP Ultimate los je dat op. Een flesje Forte Advanced Diesel Treatment doet ook wonderen in dat geval. Dat gebruik ik 1 op de 4 of 5 tankbeurten.
In de tuned M550d merkte ik zeker een groot verschil tussen gewone diesel en BP Ultimate diesel. Nu in de M340d (nog origineel) heb ik nog geen gewone diesel getankt. Ik wissel tussen HVO100 en BP Ultimate diesel. Tussen die twee merk ik weinig verschil, misschien dat BP iets meer vermogen geeft maar het verschil is niet zo groot als bij mijn vorige auto tussen normale diesel en BP.
Als je een 6-cilinder diesel hebt zou ik je aanraden altijd voor BP Ultimate diesel te gaan, of zo vaak mogelijk. Daar loopt het echt beter op. Bij Shell merkte ik eigenlijk geen verschil tussen Fuel Safe en Shell V-Power dus dat heb ik snel opgegeven (bij de M550d). HVO100 (Neste MY) is veel duurder, dat kan je tanken als je langer met je auto wilt doen, dat maakt de motor niet schoon maar vervuild het nauwelijks, een uitstoot reductie tot 90% en de motor loopt er echt soepeler op. Gasresponse is directer, roetfilter blijft schoon(er), AdBlue verbruik is dan minimaal.

Helemaal mee eens. De BP Ultimate tank ik voornamelijk om vervuiling te voorkomen. Ik merk geen verschil in loop eigenschappen van de motor tussen regulier en ultimate.
Er is wel een merkbaar verschil tussen diesel van de witte pomp en merkbrandstof. De laaste zorgt voor een beter brandstofverbruik en minder genagel bij mijn 2.2 D-CAT.

@Diesel Rocks: thanks voor de uitleg! Gaat om een viercilinder diesel en ik heb nog geen gekke zaken meegemaakt qua loop met een tank normale diesel.
HVO100 wil ik eigenlijk wel eens proberen, mijn diesel schijnt notoir te zijn in het last hebben van DPF-vervuiling. Al is het inderdaad wel een beetje dubbelop om een auto die enkel 98 drinkt in te ruilen op een diesel om vervolgens voor dezelfde prijzen te tanken ;)
Als ‘ie weer leeg is dan zal ik eens kijken wat een tankje BP Ultimate doet. Ik moet eerlijk zeggen dat het wat dubbelop voelt omdat ik een diesel heb gekocht om zo voordelig mogelijk te rijden, maar goed, je wil het wel lang doen met je auto.

Voordat iedereen een K&N filter neemt. Let erop dat die erg veel zooi in de lucht gewoon doorlaten.
Vooral zand ( stof ) is slecht voor je zuigers .

Met de 1m coupe ook goed merkbaar verschil. De daily auto’s koop ik echter zo goedkoop mogelijk de benzine, terwijl ik zeker met de 540 ook merk dat ie beter loopt. Maar ja, ben zuunig 😇

Ik had een 335i tuned met BMW M-performance update kit, die auto transformeerde helemaal op 102. Veel betere gasresponse, krachtiger en leek ook meer toeren te kunnen maken maar dat kan ook gevoel zijn geweest, de motor klonk veel sportiever. Ik wilde op niks anders meer rijden, maar voor 102 moest ik 20 km heen en 20 km terug. Ook flink duurder. Door het fellere gedrag ging ik dat vermogen dus ook steeds aanspreken en zo deed ik 350 km met een volle tank. Slik. Op E95 vond ik de 335i niks bijzonders, E98 was wel iets beter.

Een auto met turbomotor levert meer vermogen met RON 102 brandstof in plaats van RON 95 omdat de hogere octaanspecificatie zorgt voor een betere weerstand tegen pingelen of knocking (vroegtijdige ontbranding). Dit betekent dat de motor met RON 102 brandstof hogere compressieverhoudingen en meer geavanceerde ontstekingstiming kan gebruiken zonder het risico van schadelijke detonaties.
Kortom, RON 102 brandstof maakt efficiëntere verbranding mogelijk, waardoor de motor meer vermogen kan genereren. De turbolader profiteert ook van deze betere omstandigheden door hogere druk zonder verlies van prestaties door vroegtijdige verbranding.
