Speciaal voor de liefhebbers nog wat moois vanuit Essen. Deze brede GLK kon ik helaas niet laten liggen. Van de GL en M-Klasse had Brabus al een Widestar uitvoering en de kleinste SUV is nu ook aan de beurt.
Maar vergeleken met de GLK Cabrio van Boulevart Customs is dit natuurlijk maar een beetje tam. Wel jammer trouwens dat deze mini SUV wit is gespoten. Dat is soooo 2005.
Wider, More Spectacular and Highly Exclusive:
The BRABUS WIDESTAR Version for the GLK-ClassA concept car designed for the ‘Mercedes-Benz GLK Tuner Challenge 2008’ in the US turns into a spectacular-looking wide version for all new GLK-Class models. The enormously positive global public reaction to the concept car has led BRABUS to offer the WIDESTAR body conversion as an exclusive option for the new German SUV, starting immediately.
As the name indicates, the BRABUS designers have styled striking fender flares for front and rear axle that add five centimeters (two inches) to the GLK’s width.
As the name of the BRABUS version indicates, the BRABUS designers have modeled an exciting wide version of the smallest SUV in the Mercedes-Benz product lineup. The new fender flares front and back add five centimeters (two inches) to the width of the GLK.
The WIDESTAR conversion also gives the GLK a more striking front. The shape of the BRABUS front apron was optimized aerodynamically in the wind tunnel. It features generously dimensioned air inlets as well as integrated daytime running lights and auxiliary high beams and fog lamps. The new body component meets the latest strict EG guidelines for pedestrian protection. The typical WIDESTAR face also includes BRABUS LED position lights on the left and right side of the roof.
BRABUS WIDESTAR rocker panels create a homogenous transition between front and rear fender flares. The undersides of the panels also feature LED lights activated via the keyless fob or by pulling on a door handle. They illuminate the ground next to the SUV and make for safe entering and exiting of the vehicle in the dark.
The rear of the widened GLK is characterized by the BRABUS rear apron with centrally mounted reflector. Custom-tailored left and right cutouts provide the perfect surroundings for the four redesigned tailpipes of the BRABUS stainless-steel sport exhaust. The rear appearance is rounded out by the BRABUS roof spoiler with its red position lights on the left side.
The larger wheel houses of the BRABUS WIDESTAR version of the GLK allow installation of especially light yet extremely durable three-piece BRABUS Monoblock VI forged wheels in size 10.5Jx21, shod with high-performance tires from BRABUS technology partners Pirelli and YOKOHAMA in size 295/30 ZR 21. The WIDESTAR can also be equipped with other one-piece or multi-piece BRABUS Monoblock wheels with diameters of 20 and 21 inches.
For further improved handling and even more spectacular looks the ride height of the widened GLK is lowered by some 30 millimeters. Optionally available is the BRABUS sport suspension that adds firmer yet still comfortable damper settings.
BRABUS offers the world’s largest performance-tuning program for Mercedes-Benz engines. BRABUS engine tuning is available for all GLK models and all tuning is backed by the exemplary BRABUS Tuning Warranty® of three years, up to 100,000 kilometers/62,000 miles (see BRABUS warranty conditions as of November 2006). All BRABUS engines are lubricated exclusively with ARAL high-performance motor oil.
The BRABUS B7 kit for the GLK 350 4MATIC offers an additional 15 hp / 11 kW. The BRABUS 4.0 displacement engine, also available for the GLK 280 4MATIC, delivers a maximum power output of 332 hp (327 bhp) / 244 kW and a peak torque of 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) at 4,200 rpm. Driving performance benefits accordingly: The sprint from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes just 6.1 seconds, top speed increases to 250 km/h (155 mph).
The common-rail V6 Turbodiesel engine of the GLK 320 CDI 4MATIC adds 48 hp (47 bhp) / 35.3 kW when equipped with BRABUS ECO PowerXtra D6 (III) tuning. Simultaneously peak torque grows to 590 Nm (435 lb-ft), turning the tuned SUV turns into one of the sportiest vehicles of its kind. The 4×4 reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) after a sprint of just 6.5 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 228 km/h (143 mph). The BRABUS-tuned GLK 320 CDI 4MATIC meets the same strict EURO IV emission limits as its production counterpart.
Fully stainless-steel BRABUS quad sport exhausts are available for all GLK models.
Individuality also rules in the GLK interior: The lineup of exclusive accessories starts with an ergonomically shaped sport steering wheel and stainless-steel scuff plates with illuminated BRABUS WIDESTAR logo.The BRABUS upholstery shop creates custom interiors that reflect the GLK owners’ preferences down to the last detail. The list of options ranges from completion of the factory leather interior to an entirely new BRABUS leather interior. As in the ‘GLK Challenge’ concept car customers can opt for two-tone leather on seats, doors and dashboard. Especially exclusive is the diamond-shaped stitching pattern of the entire vehicle floor. It alone uses 2.7 kilometers (1.7 miles) of the finest thread, all sewn with utmost precision.
Additional interior highlights come in the form of carbon-fiber trim panels or trim made from a variety of different wood grains fro dashboard, doors and center console. Custom-tailored seatback consoles for the GLK front seats with integrated seven-inch monitors and DVD players offer multimedia on wheels.
